When they tell you not to let the bedbugs bite, they tell you that for good reason.
Bedbugs are insects that feed on the human and animal blood. They’re typically small and brown in color but once they feed on blood, their bodies swell up and become red – the size of an apple seed. These parasitic insects usually hide in dark, closed places for example under beds, couches and in clothing which is why they usually get away without being detected. Bedbug cannot fly but can move quickly through walls and ceilings. Adult forms lay over a hundreds of bugs over their lifetime and can give rise to many generations. While bedbugs do not cause a disease or infection, they can be quite problematic if they bite you. Bed bug bites are usually painless but they itch a lot. That is exactly why it is important to deal with a bedbug infestation. Get Rid of Bed bugs Effectively If you suspect a bed bug infestation, the first thing you need to do is remove all your beddings, linen, curtains and wash them in hot water to effectively remove any breeding bed bugs. Similarly, place any stuffed toys, shoes or clothes into the washer as well. Since bedbugs thrive in places such as a bed or a couch, making sure they are clean should be a priority. Use a brush to clean the mattress and vacuum the linen once or twice. Remember – bed bugs can multiply rapidly so you’d want to immediately empty the cleaner bag in the trash. When selecting a bed linen, choose one that offers a mattress protector and acts as moisture absorbent to prevent the recurrence of a bedbug infestation. If you suspect the bed bug infestation is actually originating from holes or cracks in your walls, be sure to cover and repair them as soon as you can. Bedroom hygiene is the number one solution to getting rid of bed bugs, therefore to prevent an infestation from ever happening you should regularly clean and change your sheets, linens, pillow covers and even your mattress if you can.
